L.O.T.E IS PROUD TO PRESENT ONE OF THE MANY TALENTED ARTIST TO COME OUT OF BROOKLYN, "JOHN SPORTIN"!!!!!!!......MR. READ MY RAP SHEET!...
We didn't get a chance to physically catch up to Mr. Sportin due to our schedule, funny how we are both from Brooklyn and couldn't make that connection. We actually made moves with modern day techs...the phone!.
Mr. Sportin real name Errol Staptelon at the age of 25 has been on his grind for the past 12yrs, from winning list of show cases like the hot97 music 2008 show case out of 7000 thousands artist also nominated for the UMA awards in 2008 as the #1 contender, to being unsigned hype on radio shows and magazines in major cities across the Atlantic cost. John fell in love with rap at the age eleven, which influenced him to start writing some of his own raps, it gave him a chance to express his feelings about what he thought life was like to him, a way to channel his emotion's going through tough times growing up. The writing didn't stop there he began to put together the raps he created into deep meaningful, and truthful songs concepts that would later drive him to become "John Sportin" the future of rap, a name that was given to him by some of his co defendant's (friends). Sportin has been compared to a resurrected Biggie Smalls, but with his own unique style and flow will make him one of successful rappers to come out of Brooklyn. We interviewed Mr. Sportin and he answered every question like a pro he will become in the game........
LOTE- Where do you think hip hop is going in the next five years?
JS- Hip hop is going digital and is going there fast, hopefully the business side will be able to keep up!. That's why management is on every site, blog, and myspace just always updating our status, people can access or download my music and videos on youtube and other supporting sites.
LOTE- How often do you write and go to the studio?
JS- I write a lot more than I record, I don't go to the studio and record one song either, like some artist do thinking they got in a days work. I go to the studio and record like 3-4 joints a day, so you can say twice a week I will record and write everyday!. Yeah I take it serious.
LOTE- In your opinion, who is hot and who is not?
JS- In my opinion, the rappers that put out trash is not hot, the watered down garbage is wack!
LOTE- Like who you might say is wack?
JS- No need for me to mention any names we all know who the lames are!
LOTE- Ok cool, I feel You.
JS- Now who do I think is hot?, Jay-Z, Kanye, Andre 3000, Eminem, 50 Cent....oh and that new guy....John Sportin!
LOTE- Ok so who was your favorite rapper growing up?
JS- Growing up my favorite rapper was Special Ed and Big Daddy Cane, they were the best thing that can ever happen to music for me, I would listen to them everyday, I mean every single day.
LOTE- Where did you get the inspiration to create your songs?
JS- The inspiration come from my everyday life experiences, stuff that I been through in the past other people ups and downs help me create songs. I try to keep it real as possible so people can relate and feel what I'm trying to get across.
LOTE- What is the most common statement used in rap?
JS- SWAGGER!
LOTE- Why would people want to go out and buy or listen to your music?
JS- People will listen and buy my music because I know I have something Important to say, plus the way I will present my music will be appealing to the consumer and like no other!
LOTE- What's the last CD you bought?
JS- T.I.'s -PAPER TRAIL!....shout out to TIP!
LOTE- What are you working on at this time?
JS- A lot of projects, working on this mixtape that's going to hit the streets late this year, also I'm working on some tracks for this independent film that's coming out in the spring of 09', and just doing shows to keep busy.
LOTE- If you can colab with any artist in the industry who would it be?
JS- Im have to go with my girl Mary J Blige, I love her she is the realest in everything she do and I would love to work with her.
LOTE- Who inspired you to rap?
JS- I know I mentioned where I got the inspiration to do songs or rap, but the greats weren't mention, and who set a path for me was Biggie, 2Pac, Jay-Z, and Nas. They have inspired to make quality music and to put out music with vivid images of what they was feeling at the time and that will stay in the listeners memories forever.
LOTE- If you had all the money you can make to live in comfort with no worries, will you still do music?
JS- Yea, cause that's the best way I can express myself, it's the best way how I can explain how I feel about certain things or general topics, and if I have a natural G-d given talent, then I will go until I can't go anymore.....did Bill Gates stop at 100 million?
LOTE- Thank you Mr. Sport for your time and it was great, keep up the good work and we will be posting more of your info for those who want to see and hear more about you.
JS- No doubt, thank you for the opportunity, it's cool to give people a chance to know a little more about me. OH PLEASE CHECK OUT WWW.JOHNSPORTINMUSIC.BLOGSPOT.COM/2007
